A Brief History of Victory Motorcycles
Conceived by smart people in Polaris Industries in the 1990s as an American-made, high-performance, reasonably priced, reliable cruising motorcycle, Victory emerged in late 1997 (1998 model year.) The first models were traditional steel frame bikes. While refining its steel-frame models, Victory shocked the bike world in 2007 with the introduction of the futuristic Vision with it aluminium backbone frame and Jetson styling. More aluminium frame models – Cross Country and Cross Roads – followed in 2010 and the larger 106 cubic inch engine was put in all models. The line was expanded to include the high performance Octane, the electric Empulse and the three-wheel Slingshot.
Polaris lost interest in Victory when it purchased Indian Motocycles in 2011 and started putting out Indian models in 2014. In January 2017, Polaris announced it was discontinuing the Victory brand, blaming struggles in establishing market share and limited profitability.
But… Victory didn’t go away.
Today, the Victory banner is carried by clubs like ours, dealers who continue to honour the brand and aftermarket companies who manufacture parts, accessories and upgrades for Victory. We salute them and thank them for their support and dedication.
